About a week ago I was trolling around looking for some sort of strategy game. During this I found two tittles; Army of Darkness, and Rise of Heroes. As I started to play, RoH started to look promising. After the strange story intro, you get plunged straight into the game. You and a band of merry men there to help you (and you will need help as you can’t personally damage the enemy castle) are on one side of a valley with a castle that you must protect whilst also pushing the enemy back to their castle on the other side of the valley.
Whenever you say to someone’ What is the greatest game of all time?’, what will they say? Call of Duty? No. Super Mario Bros.? Nope. GTA? Once again no. Truth is that most people who know their games well will say the same. Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time. Every single rating gives it perfect to near perfect rating. It even got something that only 4 games in the history of the world have ever achieved.
Originally released for GameBoy Colour in 1999, Prince of Persia is now downloadable on the Nintendo 3DS E-Store for £5.40 in the virtual console range. It is a fun but annoying game to play, with good graphics for its time and a gameplay to match.
STORY:
The story is following the main plot of the original movie, where a sorcerer has put a curse on the beautiful Jaffar, daughter of the sultan who was the ruler, and you have exactly 60 minutes to Marry her or she will perish! Unknown to her however you are currently in her dungeons.
SOUNDS:
Its like most games of its era has a nowadays - retro feeling with 64bit sounds. It shares this with most of the other games in the GameBoyColour Virtual Console Range.
GRAPHICS:
Not much to be said for the graphics front. It has a retro charm with 128bit visuals also common to the range.
GAMEPLAY:
This let me down a little. It has controls that if impatient will make you want the money back. However complicated this is solved by going through the training. I WOULD RECOMMEND DOING THE TUTORIAL FIRST. Once you have grasped controls of the game, quit the tutorial and select new game. However even with the tutorials, an annoying feature is that it is difficult to just walk one place forward but other than that the controls are rather easy.
SUMMARY:
This game isn't exactly my kind of game but I am enjoying it a lot. For the small price to pay this fun little game I would say it is worth it.
WOULD RECOMMEND TO:
- People who enjoyed the Prince of Persia movies
- People who want a little game to play
- People who like movie games
OTHER GAMES TO PLAY:
- Super mario bros. / land / land 2
- Legend of Zelda DX: Links Awakening
When most people hear about a game made from a movie (even on an iPhone) they immediately think disaster. But army of darkness by the infamous Backflip Studios is a semi-original side-scrolling shooter-tower defence bag of fun that’s been keeping me busy in my spare time for the past week.
Winds of Steel is an Android based game developed by DeckEleven Entertainment that brings the thrill and excitement of a WWII action/shooter to the viewpoint of Japanese and American fighter pilots. Once you get into the mood of the game, you will encounter hours of addictive game play.
Just like a console based game, the main menu is comprised of a Campaign feature, Instant Action feature, Options feature, and to get more games from that developer, a More Apps feature.
