TapDefense! – A top down real time strategy game on the iPod and iPhone is a game from Tapjoy, LLC. This game is a gem that can sometimes be overlooked – alright it’s not the best game ever but you can’t argue with the price. Plus it’s like any good app it’s highly addictive!

But is it any good?

What this game offers is fun free gaming on you mobile device that will always have you coming back for more. There is no story to follow just a variety of game modes and level packs to keep you coming back for more, and also to stop the game from becoming repetitive. The game is as follows: you as the player are in control of construction of towers of which there are 3 types when you start off. They are water which slows down the demons, bombs which are the most effective when it comes down to bringing most demons down and finally arrows which are a little weaker than bombs but can fire at a higher rate. That is not to say that bombs are the best – in fact in the later stages there are some demon waves that can’t be stopped by bombs and this renders you bomb towers as useless. The way you are able to get more towers is by killing demons for each demon you kill you get piece of gold to use on in game towers weather that be on upgrading them or buying new ones. As the game progresses you get halos that can be spent on abilities like increasing interest on the gold you earn meaning that you end up making more gold.

There are many game modes example sudden death starts off with the player having only one life which means that if you let one demon get to haven you lose the game. Additions like this stop the game from becoming monotones and because of this it gives the game some replay ability. There are also 6 maps you can play on which adds some variety. For example the map’s with water on give’s you less space to position your towers on. This can drastically change the games as it effects what you put where. Variety is also offered in the form of different level packs which can change the way you play the game. For example endurance is 60 levels of the hardest enemies in the game which can radically change the game and game play. There is also the addition of downloadable content or DLC for this game and it can be purchased with a currency called favour which can be earned by downloading other apps maid by the company.

All in all, this is a great and highly addictive and plus the game is also FREE so even if you decide that you hate it - it’s not like you have spent all your hard earned cash on it.

Thanks for blogging. That’s the most interesting review I have found about this.
