Minecraft (Take 1!)

Minecraft is a game much like a Virtual lego set. Everything is made of blocks and you can create anything. As long as you can dream you can build. The game has 2 main objectives: To survive and to find a portal to ‘The End’ Realm and beating the Enderdragon.

There are many modes like survival mode. In this mode obstructions are littered. These are mobs. There are monsters that spawn at night and will try to stop your objectives by either by punching you, shooting you with arrows, moving parts of your house around and teleporting and slaying you if you look at them, or exploding. You will need to build a shelter to survive the night. Death however is a temporary inconvenience.

Hardcore mode is a specialised version of survival mode, locked on hard difficulty but with a twist. You have one life. One death and the world is deleted. Many people have tried to complete minecraft on this difficulty but few have succeeded

In multiplayer mode, you get all the fun of being creative with the advantage of being able to show it to your friends. I personally prefer playing on servers. It makes a great game much more fun.

Creative mode is a special thing. Where in survival you need to mine your resources, in creative mode nothing limits you. I would say starting in this to get to grips with controls.

Part of the fun is in building things, but to build these items, one has to mine the materials first. While mining you need to look out for many things: Abandoned mineshafts, Huge ravines, lava pits and mobs spawning in dark places. You need these resources from mining to craft some tools and perhaps some armour too. One can then go wandering around to either explore caverns, caves, and the map which spawns infinitely, or mine up material and build something epic.

The game is currently being developed and updated regularly and it has been ported from PC and Mac to all iOS devices and Android devices with a Cross platform(with pc/mac) version currently in development for xbox 360 that will be compatible with kinect.

Whether you enjoy building skyscrapers, castles, or underground homes, Minecraft will have something you'll enjoy. As long as you can dream it you can build it Minecraft. A world of possibilities.
