Office Jerk is a free app on the iPhone/iPod Touch. The aim of the game is to hit the ‘Office Jerk’ as many times as possible, with things as small as a rubber or as large as a computer screen. You can buy packs which include dynamites and chocolate cupcakes to throw at the jerk, or you can find objects and touch them to obtain them in your inventory. There are different versions of the games, for example, Office Zombie which is for Halloween and there is a holiday edition. When it first came out, it had three stars on the Apple store, but now it has almost five. There has been over 7.5 million downloads of the game.

Every time you hit the jerk, he groans in pain and occasionally has sudden outbreaks of anger. For example if you are using a scrunched up paper ball and hit him several times, he eventually becomes livid and throws the paper ball right back at you. It’s great! And if you’re using the chocolate cupcake and you luckily hit him in the face, he wipes the chocolate off his face and hits you with it.

The jerk has different reactions to many things. There’s a variety of apps to buy or to redeem for challenge points - this can be obtained by completing the daily challenge, which changes daily, hence the name ‘daily challenge’.

The packs vary from 69p to £1.29, in the form of In-App purchases.

The game doesn’t have much of an objective, only just to hit the jerk over and over again. At first the game is fun, but it does get slightly boring afterwards, as it does get too repetitive. In addition, the game takes a while to load, which becomes slightly irritating.
