When most people hear about a game made from a movie (even on an iPhone) they immediately think disaster. But army of darkness by the infamous Backflip Studios is a semi-original side-scrolling shooter-tower defence bag of fun that’s been keeping me busy in my spare time for the past week.
After the snappy intro rounding up the three movies up until the final battle at the castle that the game takes place in, you’ll be battling up to wave 50. What is it with every wave system going up to 50? This game is simple on the surface but as it progresses you’ll find yourself being sucked in and wanting to keep playing to get to that final wave.
As well as yourself you will have a number of movie accurate power-ups and units, and even a few castle upgrades for good measure. It took me a while to figure out what the death-coaster was.
The only disappointment was the silly endless mode that attempts to drag out the game beyond its natural ending, to the point where a game restart was needed. This game is definitely worth its retail price of FREE! and the addition of it being in the game centre arsenal gives multiple achievements to go for, which makes it a must to have.
