Streetbike: Full Blast

When people mention Chillingo, people usually refer to it as the Ferrari in the app world. The creators of some of the best-selling games of all time - Cut the Rope, Angry Birds etc. Because of this, I was very excited about this game and knew full well that it held a lot of promise.

What I got was an average bike racer with graphics that you are likely to find on an arcade machine. Ok, the graphics of the bike are good and there seems to be no lag, but the traffic and scenery need improvement. There is also a dramatic shortage of bikes as there are only around 7 that you can unlock. Another problem is that the UI Interface and menu are dreary and boring, consisting of just simple buttons, completely the opposite of the Interface on Cut the Rope.

Multiplayer is a must for modern-day racing games, and Streetbike-Full Blast doesn’t have an online game mode, which is depressing.

There is a “league career” game mode which is alright, but average nonetheless. It features different races in which you compete with other racers which will keep you entertained for quite a while. Don’t get me wrong, this game is rather addictive and offers brilliant adrenaline-packed fury that will keep you on the edge of your sofa! The accelerometer controls are also a nice touch and put you straight in the action.

The game had huge potential. There are very few motorbike racing games on the app store and Chillingo should have conquered this section of the store easily. Since there is no real market competition for a bike racer (surprisingly), this is not a problem for now and with a few tweaks I am sure it will be up to the usual Chillingo standard.

In conclusion, this is an average racer that is slightly disappointing and it should be sold for free. It is obvious that the developer has not spent much time making the game and that would be fine if the game was free, but it isn’t and for a paid app I would really expect more. Come on Chillingo, you can do so much more!
