Minecraft is a game much like a Virtual lego set. Everything is made of blocks and you can create anything. As long as you can dream you can build. The game has 2 main objectives: To survive and to find a portal to ‘The End’ Realm and beating the Enderdragon.

This is the first handheld playable version of the GTA series. It is a universal app, meaning that is available on the iPod touch, iPhone and iPad. First question anyone would ask, what do you do in it?

Nintendo and Pokemon go hand in hand. The same is true for Pokemon and their many Spin-Off games. These amount to over 30 games and one of the most up and coming series in this area are the Rumble series. These follow a different scheme all together. Instead of having actual creatures, you catch and train wind up Pokemon toys that battle each other, much like actual Pokemon would. You must fight your way to the fierce boss battle at the end of every level and try to win. Once you have strong enough toys you can challenge the battle royale.

About a week ago I was trolling around looking for some sort of strategy game. During this I found two tittles; Army of Darkness, and Rise of Heroes. As I started to play, RoH started to look promising. After the strange story intro, you get plunged straight into the game. You and a band of merry men there to help you (and you will need help as you can’t personally damage the enemy castle) are on one side of a valley with a castle that you must protect whilst also pushing the enemy back to their castle on the other side of the valley.

Whenever you say to someone’ What is the greatest game of all time?’, what will they say? Call of Duty? No. Super Mario Bros.? Nope. GTA? Once again no. Truth is that most people who know their games well will say the same. Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time. Every single rating gives it perfect to near perfect rating. It even got something that only 4 games in the history of the world have ever achieved.

Another game brought to us by our friends at Chillingo, and I have to say I am impressed. Normally I don’t really like arcade layouts on games but the retro style simply blew me away! The grunge effect was also a nice touch. The 3D graphics are really quite interesting to give a kind of “Nintendo 3DS” kind of feel but the graphics of the actual wrestling should see improvement.

What do you think there is in your iPod/iPhone? Hard drives computer chips with pocket god? You can think again - Pocket God is a whole new world in your hand containing pygmies, dinosaurs, and the odd ice monster.

This is one must have app if volcanoes are your thing, maybe if you have a taste for lightning or maybe you just find flinging roasting, poor, helpless people darn right funny.

This app contains 42 episodes and counting. Episodes (missions, really) for people who don’t know - they’re a number of quests for you to complete in order to earn idols, which are pretty much the aim of the game (you can upgrade them). With these idols, you then go on your map, tap on the temple and if you have four you can play against the gods.

The other things you can do are for you to discover asI don’t want to spoil the experience and if you are ever stuck you can tap on the help button. All considered this is one game no iPod/iPhone can live without

Super smash brawl is not only an amazing game but most of all is a celebration of all things Nintendo. In this game you will get cross overs unlike any other game. Whether it’s Yoshi fighting Mario and link or if it’s 4 Yoshi’s brawling to the bitter end there are endless possibilities. In the series, this game boasts the most levels, characters and items. Not only is there the chance to play as your favourite characters from Nintendo, sonic and snake have joined the brawl.

When you’re not rubbing in your victories solo players might like to compete in classic mode where you face 12 enemies and build up your trophy stash. Not only can you compete in classic mode but you can also do the story mode (subspace emissary) that unites all of the Nintendo kingdom to face off against characters from pretty much anything Nintendo.

This game has also an online mode and if you’re feeling creative there is also there an extra that allows you to make your own stages. One of my favourite items are the poke’balls and item trophies which give you a random character to help you.

Not only do I think it is an amazing game but ONM (Official Nintendo Magazine) gave it 95 % ‘Even looking at it with a cynical eye, it's incredibly hard to fault Brawl. You're going to adore this game.’

This is a game for anybody even vaguely interested in Nintendo and is personally a game that no Nintendo fan is complete without.

Originally released for GameBoy Colour in 1999, Prince of Persia is now downloadable on the Nintendo 3DS E-Store for £5.40 in the virtual console range. It is a fun but annoying game to play, with good graphics for its time and a gameplay to match.

STORY:
The story is following the main plot of the original movie, where a sorcerer has put a curse on the beautiful Jaffar, daughter of the sultan who was the ruler, and you have exactly 60 minutes to Marry her or she will perish! Unknown to her however you are currently in her dungeons.

SOUNDS:
Its like most games of its era has a nowadays - retro feeling with 64bit sounds. It shares this with most of the other games in the GameBoyColour Virtual Console Range.

GRAPHICS:
Not much to be said for the graphics front. It has a retro charm with 128bit visuals also common to the range.

GAMEPLAY:
This let me down a little. It has controls that if impatient will make you want the money back. However complicated this is solved by going through the training. I WOULD RECOMMEND DOING THE TUTORIAL FIRST. Once you have grasped controls of the game, quit the tutorial and select new game. However even with the tutorials, an annoying feature is that it is difficult to just walk one place forward but other than that the controls are rather easy.

SUMMARY:
This game isn't exactly my kind of game but I am enjoying it a lot. For the small price to pay this fun little game I would say it is worth it.

WOULD RECOMMEND TO:
- People who enjoyed the Prince of Persia movies
- People who want a little game to play
- People who like movie games

OTHER GAMES TO PLAY:
- Super mario bros. / land / land 2
- Legend of Zelda DX: Links Awakening

Office Jerk is a free app on the iPhone/iPod Touch. The aim of the game is to hit the ‘Office Jerk’ as many times as possible, with things as small as a rubber or as large as a computer screen. You can buy packs which include dynamites and chocolate cupcakes to throw at the jerk, or you can find objects and touch them to obtain them in your inventory. There are different versions of the games, for example, Office Zombie which is for Halloween and there is a holiday edition. When it first came out, it had three stars on the Apple store, but now it has almost five. There has been over 7.5 million downloads of the game.

When most people hear about a game made from a movie (even on an iPhone) they immediately think disaster. But army of darkness by the infamous Backflip Studios is a semi-original side-scrolling shooter-tower defence bag of fun that’s been keeping me busy in my spare time for the past week.

Plants vs. Zombies (PvZ) - Not necessarily a phrase you hear all the time in the real world, but a winning combination in the gaming world. Zombies are becoming ever popular with the casual gamers (Zombie Taxi, Zombieville) and the hardcore gamers (CoD: Zombies, Left 4 Dead). PvZ definitely falls into the casual gamer category.

Four days ago a family member told me about this new iPhone game called Contre Jour, so I checked it out. It was a 69p game made by our buddies at Chillingo (Angry Birds, Cut the Rope). Those of you gifted with the power of language will be able to work out that the meaning of “Contre Jour” is something close to “counter day” or, in English, “night”. This is unsurprisingly where it is set - at night.

I heard about it from snooping around looking for a strategy game to waste my time on and found an indie spaceship builder, in which you design a craft from multitudes of different hulls and hundreds of different weapons, shields, armour classes and special items.

In this day and age, it’s quite hard to think of a better football game than FIFA or PES. These games rule this part of the gaming world and bring mobile gaming to the next level.

Everyone loves an underdog. But an underdog that actually challenges the big boys…That takes something special.

It’s amazing to think that a little less than 20 years ago, the gaming public were being wowed by a console about the same size as a small brick which could play Tetris in full black-and-white, on no less than six double-A batteries. Fast forward to 2011, and it’s even more amazing to think that we’re now able to play fully 3D games on a device about half that size (although battery technology doesn’t seem to have improved that much - more on that later).

This is Nintendo’s 3DS, the long awaited successor system to the monumentally popular DS, which was released a little over six years ago. The 3DS carries over many of the features of the previous iteration - dual screens, a touch sensitive lower panel and the DSi’s cameras - but adds possibly the boldest and most revolutionary feature on a handheld to date - glasses free stereoscopic 3D. So, without further ago, let’s get started...

It is impossible to consider the Samsung Galaxy Tablet without comparing it to its rivalrous older brother – the iPad. One can’t help but feel that the Tablet is simply a response to the success of the iPad; an assault on the monopolistic trends of Apple. “Whatever you can do, we can do better” say Samsung, albeit even if they’re merely copying Apple’s successful formula.

A short review for a short game. The average time played on the iPhone game 'Canabalt' is not measured in minutes but in seconds. The was the game is set out forces this to happen.

The Graphics are awful the theme tune music is terrible but yet the GameRating staff are addicted, sometimes simplicity is all you need.

Another year, another FIFA - and it's no surprise that this years installment of the long running franchise has been released for iOS. Last years FIFA 10 was a pretty poor effort, and the 2010 World Cup edition of the game did little to distance itself from the buggy gameplay and poor graphics of it's predecessor. For FIFA 11, EA is touting a host of new improvements, including a 360-degree passing system and a brand new engine which should provide graphics comparable to the PSP version. So, does FIFA 11 score a winning goal for EA, or does it fall flat before it even makes it to the pitch?

Cut The Rope / Cut The Rope HD has instantly hit the top spot on the app store, and it's not hard to find out why! The main aim of the game, and I say the main game because there are many more aspects, is to cut ropes that are suspending candy inside a cardboard box with an aim to get it in the green monsters' mouth. Other aspects of the game include bubbles, blowing machines and spikes - along with extendable and retractable ropes.

Slice It! is a game from Com2uS which instantly gained the top spots on the App Store around the world - that says everything about this app, but I will expand! As a serious contender to Angry Birds, Slice It! is a highly addictive game that requires skill and accuracy. The first few levels of the game walk you through how to get started with the basic concepts required to complete the levels. They then set you off with no help, apart from "hints" which you can purchase with "hint points", earned when you complete a level with 100% accuracy.

Angry Birds HD is the iPad equivalent of the long standing no. 1 app on the iPhone's App Store. The success that Angry Birds for iPhone has gained has made Angry Birds HD an instant iPad success, travelling straight to number 2 of the top Paid apps - with good reason. I'll start off with a bit of information about the game, and why the birds are so angry! The green pigs have stolen the birds prized possessions - their eggs. You control the birds in their mission to destroy the pig's forts and get the eggs back!

Shrek Kart HD was one of the first games I ever installed on my iPad. Obviously aimed at the children's market, Shrek Kart HD includes all the main characters from the well known movie series, "Shrek". It includes Shrek himself, Donkey, Puss In Boots, Gingy, Pinocchio, Ogre Triplets, Fiona, Big Bad Wolf, the 3 Little Pigs and of course, Lord Farquaad (The Ghost Of!). The game offers 3 different difficulties, perfect for the smallest of children. There are 4 game modes in total - Single Race, which speaks for itself.
